Kollmorgen's AKM31H-SSS2S-03 is a synchronous servomotor featuring a distinctive shaft and an integrated 24 VDC-rated spring-applied holding brake. Special feedback is included, and the device operates to form a closed torque or speed control loop in conjunction with the SERVOSTAR servo amplifier. The device's performance data may be reduced due to the presence of the holding brake. It should not be operated above 40 °C and should ideally be fitted with backlash-free collets. Care should be taken to avoid mechanically constraining the shaft mounting, and the motor should be de-energized during wiring and assembly. For grounding purposes, a large-surface-area electrical connection might be required. Specific servo amplifiers are required for operation, and the motor includes rotor-embedded permanent magnets. The motor features polyurethane-insulated sheathing and trailing-suitable cables. With possible live power and control leads when static, the unit can bear up to 900V, with a maximum mains voltage rating of 480 VAC. After operation, the DC link voltage should be below 40V to touch the surface. Proper wiring is essential, as per instructions and diagrams included with the servo amplifier.
