The Kollmorgen 502-03840-04R0 is a servo encoder module designed for PiC900 systems. The module, which measures 41mm in width, 305mm in height and 213mm in depth, is fitted into a slot in the PiC 900 rack. In compliance with IEC 68-2-27 and IEC 68-2-6 shock and vibration ratings, it can withstand four shocks per axis at 15 g per 11 milliseconds and vibrates at 10 to 57 Hertz at 0.15mm amplitude. The primary function of the module is to convert a 16-bit digital word into an 11 Volt analog output signal, while simultaneously counting pulses from the encoder inputs and latching the counter value at an index or 24 Volts DC input event. With 4 analog outputs, 3 DC inputs and 3 encoder inputs, this module delivers superior performance. Given the specification of the cable, it can handle lengths up to 200 feet at 250 kilohertz with a 45-degree quad error when paired with a differential driver. Installation and operation require trained personnel.
