The 5630-039 stepper motor drive by Pacific Scientific is a sophisticated, high-quality unit designed for precise motor control. It defaults to 5 amps/phase RMS and features a bipolar chopper drive that regulates motor current and chopper frequency. Powered by a 115V AC input, it includes a full-wave bridge rectifier and shunt regulator circuitry to safeguard against dc bus voltage exceeding 200 volts. For protection, it has short circuit protection, illuminating fault lights and latching off to prevent damage during faults. Isolation circuitry allows for separation of user signals such as reset, enable, direction, and step commands. Additionally, the 5630-039 provides mid-range instability control, dampening oscillations to prevent torque loss or stalling at mid-range speeds. It supports a step range from full steps to micro-steps (½ to 1/125) and offers an idle current reduction feature to conserve energy during dwell periods.
