131Z8848
The 131Z8848 is an AC variable-speed drive manufactured by Danfoss for the VLT 2800 Low Voltage Drives series. By modulating the output frequency it lets system designers tie motor speed to process variables such as flow or tension, supporting continuous-duty automation while remaining within the VLT product group’s standardized footprint.
This unit supplies up to 10 HP of mechanical output, a figure that aligns with its electrical rating of 7.5 kW. Incoming power can range from 380-480 V ±10% 50/60 Hz, and the drive is wired for a 3 phase mains network so current draw is balanced across the supply. Panel builders can mount the converter in switchgear compartments without additional covers because its IP20 touch-safe rating already protects against accidental contact with live parts. The Bookstyle housing keeps the width narrow, allowing multiple drives to be stacked side-by-side in shallow cabinets. For chemical, food, and utility plants the unit ships with process-oriented firmware, yet it carries no application option card, leaving parameter sets open for direct configuration.
A built-in keypad identified as Built In Display (SLCP) provides local commissioning, and the Standard with brake hardware configuration enables dynamic stopping through an internal brake chopper when the controlled motor decelerates quickly. Conducted emissions are limited by an RFI network that meets EN 55011 Class A1, simplifying compliance inside industrial electrical rooms. Communication is restricted to hard-wired I/O because the model ships without a fieldbus option, an acceptable compromise where centralized PLCs already generate analog or relay references. Conformal board protection is added at the factory, and the resulting coating withstands humid or dusty atmospheres encountered in many VLT installations.
