The 131Z8972 is an AC variable frequency drive released by Danfoss in the VLT 2800 Low Voltage Drives series. By converting fixed mains power into a controlled output, the device adjusts motor speed and torque on conveyors, mixers, and other continuous-duty process machines used in industrial automation.
This model accepts a supply of 200-240V AC on a Single Phase feeder, enabling installation where three-phase power is unavailable. The power board carries a conformal layer; the With coating finish shields traces from moisture and conductive dust that accumulate inside panels. Conducted emissions are suppressed by an integrated filter that complies with EN 55011 Class A1, maintaining electromagnetic compatibility with nearby instrumentation. For personnel safety the housing is rated IP20, which prevents finger contact with live parts but requires cabinet mounting for environmental protection.
The mechanical package follows a Bookstyle format, so multiple drives can be aligned edge-wise to conserve enclosure width. Parameter entry and real-time feedback are provided by the front-mounted Built In Display (SLCP), eliminating the need for a remote keypad in small panels. Dynamic stopping energy is dissipated internally because the hardware is specified as Standard with brake, allowing short deceleration times without an external resistor. Control expandability is minimal; the drive ships with No application option and omits fieldbus communication, leaving hard-wired I/O as the primary interface for start, stop, and reference signals in dedicated process installations.
