The 178B1448 is a low-voltage variable frequency drive produced by Danfoss for the VLT 2800 Low Voltage Drives series within the broader VLT product group. Intended for process-oriented automation, it transforms fixed utility power into a modulated output that lets pumps, conveyors, or mixers follow precise speed targets. Installed inside a cabinet, the unit links local motors to higher-level control systems, reducing energy consumption and granting adjustable acceleration profiles demanded by continuous-flow production lines.
Electrical compatibility centers on a rated input of 380–480 V ±10 % at 50/60 Hz brought in through a 3 phase supply. The inverter provides a continuous shaft output of 0.55 kW, equivalent to 0.75 HP, allowing it to drive small induction machines without oversizing. A protection level of IP20 supports safe finger access but requires installation in a closed panel. Parameter entry is handled from the built-in SLCP display, and the drive is shipped without an application option card, simplifying commissioning. The control board carries no conformal coating, so the device should be used in clean, dry electrical rooms where ambient contaminants are controlled.
The vertical footprint follows the Bookstyle format, enabling several drives to share the same backplate while leaving airflow paths unobstructed. For field-level communication, an integrated interface supports Profibus DP 12 MBaud, allowing cyclic set-point exchange and diagnostic reporting. Conducted emissions are limited by the onboard EN 55011 Class A1 RFI filter, helping the installation meet industrial EMC limits without external filters. During rapid deceleration, excess energy is routed to an internal brake transistor; the power stage is delivered as standard with brake, so external brake choppers or resistors are unnecessary for typical light-duty loads.
