The AC Spindle drive is a composite of numerous components, each fulfilling specific roles. Components include a three-phase power transformer, a KDV Modular power supply, an AC asynchronous spindle motor with feedback, a CDM computer drive module, and a KDA Asynchronous drive module. The transformer simply adapts the line power to the 220VAC needed by the KDV power supply. Likewise, the KDV modular power supply converts the three-phase 220 VAC input voltage into the DC bus voltage required for the AC Spindle motor and AC Servo controllers. Moreover, the product features a mounted thermistor that effectively tracks and alerts of over-temperature conditions. This thermistor is connected to the CDM via an overload detector inside the control cabinet, adjacent to the spindle drive package.
