VACII D22-A
The Okuma VACII D22-A drive is a high-performance spindle control unit in the VAC Spindle Drives series, designed for precision CNC machining applications. This module integrates a dedicated Power Supply Unit D22A with an advanced control PCB assembly, comprising the VAC Board II and VAC Card 1, to deliver reliable power conversion and signal processing. Rated for a continuous power capacity of 22 kW, the VACII D22-A supports stable spindle operation under heavy machining loads. Its built-in Cooling Fan Motor Voltage 200V, 50/60 Hz configuration ensures consistent thermal management in industrial environments. Equipped with industry-standard rack-mount dimensions, it seamlessly integrates into automated manufacturing cells.
The VACII D22-A features a robust electrical architecture with Main Transformer Primary Voltage 200V and dual Main Transformer Secondary Voltages 19V, 105V outputs for auxiliary circuits and control logic. Power input is safeguarded by an Input Fuse Rating 5A and fast-acting warning fuses of types SMP32 and MP50, while Short Circuit Protection is handled by internal circuit breakers. Three high-capacity Capacitors: 3x large electrolytic capacitors stabilize DC bus voltage during transient loads. The control assembly includes Dip Switches for customizable configuration and six selector switches (SW1–SW6). Signal and power wiring leverage Fan Motor Connections FU, FV and Motor Power Connections U, V, W, E terminal blocks, plus dedicated Grounding and Power Terminals for high-current conductors. Transistor switching is performed by the Transistor Module Type TRM1–TRM6, ensuring efficient PWM drive performance.
Operational features emphasize thermal resilience and diagnostic capability. An External aluminum extrusion Heatsink provides optimum heat dissipation from power components, complemented by a speed-regulated 200V cooling fan. The integrated LED interface—including two digital 7-segment diagnostics—enables rapid fault identification and status monitoring onsite. Three precision trimmer potentiometers (VR1–VR3) allow fine adjustment of acceleration, deceleration, and torque limits to match diverse spindle characteristics. The drive supports both encoder and resolver feedback systems for closed-loop positioning and can function reliably up to 1000 m altitude.
System integration is streamlined for industrial automation and rack-based enclosures, with form-factor compliance with standard machine tool cabinets. The VACII D22-A pairs directly with Okuma OSP series CNC controllers to leverage advanced spindle synchronization, real-time status reporting, and predictive maintenance features. Its modular design targets applications such as high-speed milling, precision grinding, and heavy-duty turning operations where dynamic response and reliability are critical. Compatible with a wide range of Okuma machine platforms, the drive is ideal for OEMs and end-users seeking consistent spindle control performance in complex machining processes.
