The Beckhoff EK1100 is a high-performing coupler designed for EtherCAT networks integration, ideal for the connection of a modular I/O island. Furnished with two RJ-45 ports on the left to reinforce EtherCAT network connection, it converts telegrams from Ethernet 100BASE-TX into E-bus signals. Its right side facilitates connection with several EtherCAT Terminals, enabling communication between these terminals and other network devices. Fully supporting the EtherCAT Device Protocol, it should be linked to an EtherCAT master and cannot be connected to a switch or a router. The coupler also handles power supply for terminal communication, offering a maximum current of 2000 mA at a 5V DC. For further power requirements, additional power feed terminals, like the EL9410, could be incorporated. The EK1100 also has diagnostic LEDs to indicate power supply, communication status and fieldbus diagnosis.
