The IE5109-0000 by Beckhoff is an extension box for industrial automation systems that connects encoders. This module features a 12-pin M23 connector for mounting encoders or sensors, and it operates on 24 V DC, accommodating a 15% voltage variation. It supports quadrature decoding with 1-, 2-, and 4-fold evaluation, enabling precise position and velocity measurement. Equipped with a 16-bit binary counter and zero pulse latch, the IE5109-0000 ensures accurate encoder value reading and setting. It can handle frequencies up to 1 MHz with four-fold evaluation and supplies 5 V DC encoder and 0.5 A sensor power with short circuit protection. The module includes an Ethernet socket DP8 for network connectivity, complying with EMC emission and immunity standards (EN 61000-6-2 and 61000-6-4), which makes it suitable for electrically noisy environments.
