Within automated assemblies the unit provides a fixed mating interface that routes power, control, and diagnostic signals between removable boards and the stationary wiring harness, supporting rapid module replacement and consistent electrical alignment in PLC racks and motion controllers.
The connection layout follows the DIN 41612 Type D32 standard, giving designers predictable footprint and pin numbering. Two staggered contact rows are present, so the connector offers 2 independent signal layers that minimize crosstalk across the board edge. In total the housing carries 32 plated contacts, a count suited for medium-density sensor or actuator clusters. A 5.08 mm contact pitch maintains adequate creepage and clearance for typical 24 VDC control voltages while still fitting compact Eurocard widths. The mating side is female, protecting the backplane contacts from accidental damage during card insertion.
Mechanical integration is defined by a length of 158 mm, allowing the cardholder to span the full depth of standard 3U sub-racks without overhang. Mounting holes are pre-drilled on 127 mm × 40 mm centers, so the unit aligns with tapped rails or standoffs in enclosure frames, and each fixing point accepts hardware up to 4.2 mm in diameter. On the board side, the contacts terminate through Solder Connections, enabling direct wave-solder processing and strong strain relief once the PCB is secured. These dimensional and termination features complement the electrical layout described above without altering signal assignment.
