178B2134
The 178B2134 decentralized inverter is manufactured by Danfoss as part of the FCD 300 Micro Drives series. By integrating power electronics, control logic, and I/O in a sealed enclosure, this device mounts close to, or directly on, the driven equipment. Within automated production or material-handling cells it converts fixed mains power into a variable frequency and voltage, allowing small AC motors to follow speed references supplied by PLCs or simple analog signals while minimizing panel wiring.
Electrically the drive accepts a three-phase supply of 3x380-480V and delivers a continuous motor power of 0.37 kW, equivalent to .50 HP at the shaft. The hardware is supplied in the Extended (24V ext.) variant so the control section can remain powered by an external 24 VDC source during mains interruptions. The enclosure carries an IP66 rating, meaning dust-tight construction and protection against high-pressure water jets. Internal logic scales acceleration and deceleration to protect connected motors from thermal overload and excessive torque.
The unit is configured for Processing Application duties, so its default parameter set favors constant-torque loads found in mixers and material conveyance. A No display front panel keeps the housing smooth, relying on remote software tools for commissioning, and the wiring area is simplified because there is no terminal box; field cables enter through pre-sealed glands. Electromagnetic compliance on distributed installations is handled by the built-in With integral 1A filter. Communication is limited to hard-wired control signals because it is supplied Without fieldbus support, and the exterior receives a standard epoxy coating that withstands typical plant atmospheres.
