The Kollmorgen AKM family of motors has revolutionized factory floor operations by combining high performance motors with diverse feedback, connection, and mounting possibilities. The AKM motors offer a continuous stall torque of 0.16 N-m to 180 N-m across 28 frame-stack combinations and maximum speeds reaching 8000 RPM. One such model, the AKM63S-ASCSC-02, is a permanent magnet brushless servo motor with a holding brake to prevent unintentional shaft rotation. It comes in a 138-millimeter frame size with a special shaft and an IEC rated flange. The motor works best with Kollmorgen’s AKD series digital amplifiers, allowing quicker setup and operation. However, the motor is not suitable for explosive environments, food contact, or direct interaction with mains supply networks. It's best suited for machine tools, industrial robots, packaging and textile machinery, and other high-dynamic applications.
