The B & R Automation APC2100 industrial PC from the APC Industrial Automation PC Units series delivers robust computing performance in a compact, fanless enclosure. Designed for demanding industrial automation tasks, the APC2100 integrates an Intel Atom E3845, 4 cores, 1.91GHz processor with Intel HD Graphics (Bay Trail) to support both control and visualization functions. Featuring a lightweight design of ~1.5 kg and multiple mounting options, this unit minimizes installation footprint while ensuring mechanical stability. With passive cooling and a rugged housing, it provides reliable operation in harsh environments without the need for active airflow management.

Detailed technical specifications make the APC2100 a versatile choice for system integrators. The controller includes 2 MB cache memory to accelerate data access, and supports RAM options of 1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB, or 8 GB to suit a range of application requirements. Storage is accommodated via a CFast slot, supports 2 GB card and user-installable CFast media starting at 60 GB. Communication interfaces consist of 2x Ethernet, 4x USB ports (including USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 variants), 2x RS422/485, 1x DVI, and 1x SDL for display output. The APC2100 operates from a universal +24 VDC supply and draws only 10 W at rated load, enabling energy-efficient deployment across large machine networks.

Operational resilience is achieved through extensive environmental qualifications. The unit withstands ambient temperatures from -20 °C to 55 °C during operation, and survives storage and transport conditions between -20 °C and 60 °C. Shock resistance of 10 G and vibration resistance of 1 G ensure sustained performance under dynamic mechanical stress. Passive cooling design eliminates moving parts to reduce potential failure points and maintenance requirements. With integrated Intel graphics and wide temperature tolerance, the APC2100 maintains consistent processing and visualization throughput in industrial settings.

System integration is simplified by the APC2100’s compliance with fieldbus standards such as POWERLINK and CAN, which can be implemented via modular interface modules. Native support for Automation Runtime and Windows 10 IoT Enterprise operating systems streamlines software deployment and remote management. The compact form factor and multiple mounting options facilitate installation in control cabinets, machine frames, or distributed automation stations.
