The B8962-FK1, a two-axis Smart Drive by Kollmorgen, exemplifies the latest in motion control technology. Popular in the industrial automation sector, it boasts control and monitoring capabilities for various motor types and actuators. Its high bandwidth torque and velocity control surpass the performance of amplifiers with sinusoidal control, owing to the drive's unique vector control. The DSP technology interfaced machine controller, creates a seamless tool of precision and control. This smart drive operates at 115 – 230 VAC and uses a back-lit supertwist display on its FP220 front panel to communicate system status and errors. Other features include a 5 A continuous current capacity, a 2 MHz quadrature incremental encoder for accurate position detection, an RS-232 serial interface for peripheral connections, and a fan kit for cooling. Notably, it has to be installed in an IP54 protected switchgear cabinet and used with specified Kollmorgen parts and modules. The device tolerates up to +55 degree Celsius, with its keypad offering NEMA 4 protection.
