The CU1521-0000 from Beckhoff is part of the CU EtherCAT Junctions series, designed for high-performance media conversion in industrial automation networks. With a data transfer rate of 100 Mbit/s and support for station distances up to 2000 m (100BASE-FX), it ensures reliable signal reach over extended runs. The unit’s primary function is to transition between RJ45 copper and multi-mode fiber 50/125 µm, enabling flexible network topologies and seamless integration of fiber segments into EtherCAT infrastructures.
This compact module measures 35 × 98.5 × 76.5 mm and introduces a minimal latency of approx. 1 µs, preserving real-time performance. It features dual bus interfaces: 1× SC Duplex for fiber and 1× RJ45 for shielded Cat 5 cable, operating under the EtherCAT protocol. The device accepts a 24 V DC supply (18–30 V) via a three-pin connector (+, –, PE) and complies with EN 61000-6-2/6-4 for electromagnetic compatibility.
Engineered to withstand harsh industrial environments, the CU1521-0000 operates from –25 °C to +60 °C and can be stored between –40 °C and +85 °C. It meets EN 60068-2-6/2-27 for vibration and shock resistance and carries CE and UL approvals. The unit’s IP20 protection and variable installation orientation simplify deployment in control cabinets.
