CU2608
The CU2608 module, manufactured by Beckhoff and part of the CU EtherCAT Junctions series, is a high-performance junction designed to simplify and segment EtherCAT networks while integrating CAN-based devices. Operating from a 100-240 VAC power supply, it consumes 14.5 W under peak conditions to minimize thermal output. Featuring 2 CAN interfaces, this screw-in module enables seamless communication between distributed CAN devices and the EtherCAT backbone, making it ideal for industrial automation applications where reliability and efficiency are paramount.
In terms of technical specifications, the CU2608 offers complete electrical isolation to prevent ground loops and enhance network reliability. It supports an input voltage range of 100-240 VAC and mounts directly into control cabinets via a screw-in module design (TB712 terminal block sold separately). The module incorporates 8 Ethernet ports capable of 10/100 Mbit/s transfer rates with auto-negotiation, guaranteeing compatibility and optimum link speeds. Rated for operation between -30°C and +70°C, it withstands harsh indoor or outdoor environments and meets industrial protection requirements.
Additional features include support for shielded twisted-pair cable lengths of up to 100 meters, extending network reach across large machine layouts. The CU2608 performs automatic crossover detection and correction, eliminating cable-type considerations during installation. It employs D-coded, 4-pin M12 Ethernet connectors for secure, vibration-resistant mating, and operates in an unmanaged store-and-forward switching mode to buffer complete Ethernet frames and prevent packet loss. One hardware diagnostic LED per channel delivers rapid visual feedback for maintenance and troubleshooting. In industrial settings, these capabilities translate to robust network integrity, simplified deployment, and reduced downtime.
