The Beckhoff CX5230-0195 from the CX Embedded PC Systems series is an industrial-grade embedded controller designed for automation tasks. Powered by an Intel Atom® x5-E3930 processor running at 1.3 GHz with dual cores, and equipped with 4 GB DDR4 RAM, it delivers reliable performance for motion control and data acquisition. Its primary application is in machine-level control where compactness and processing power are essential for real-time automation.

This Embedded PC features passive cooling to ensure silent operation in confined spaces, and provides multiple interfaces for seamless integration. Connectivity includes 2×RJ45 10/100/1000 Mbit/s Ethernet ports, 4×USB 3.0 ports, and a DVI-D video output for local HMI. Flash memory is supported via 1×CFast and 1×microSD slots, while I/O connection is handled through auto-recognition on E-bus/K-bus. An optional user-defined slot allows customization with fieldbus or specialized modules. The device runs on 24 V DC (–15%/+20%), isolated power, with an average consumption of 16 W and a 1-second UPS buffer on the 1 MB CFast card for controlled shutdown.

In terms of system management and durability, the CX5230-0195 includes diagnostic LEDs (power, TwinCAT status, flash access, and two bus indicators) for rapid fault identification. An internal real-time clock with user-replaceable battery ensures accurate timestamps after power interruptions. Supported operating systems include Win10 IoT Enterprise 2019/2021 LTSC and TwinCAT/BSD, enabling flexible software deployment. Passive cooling and robust design reduce maintenance, while the UPS buffer and flash memory card guard against data loss. This combination of features enhances uptime, reliability, and efficiency, making the CX5230-0195 ideal for modern industrial automation environments.
