The EK1110-0043 EtherCAT EJ coupler, a product of Beckhoff, facilitates direct linkage between CX series embedded PCs and EJ modules on a custom PCB without requiring an additional power supply. It feeds off the main power supply of the CX series PC and commonly consumes about 50 mA of current. This particular model permits construction and operation of EtherCAT based control systems, removing the necessity for an EtherCAT extension (EK1110). Incorrect connections are eliminated thanks to the addition of coding pins. This device handles any EtherCAT protocol, with data transfer peaking at 100 Mbits/s. Easy integration comes from a 24-pin backend connector which directs the peripheral voltage, E-bus side supply voltage and E-bus signals through PCB tracks. Despite its IP20 rating, the EK1110-0043 can be fastened on a 35 mm DIN-rail and can operate between temperatures 0°C and +55°C. Diagnostic LEDs provide status updates for field side supply voltage, E-bus signals power supply, and current operating state. It weighs roughly 50 grams and has dimensions of 44 mm x 100 mm x 68 mm. Configuration can be carried out using a standard personal computer, due to its compatibility with the TwinCAT system manager.
