The Beckhoff EL2878-0005 terminal from the EL EtherCAT Terminals series by Beckhoff delivers eight high-speed digital outputs with a nominal voltage of 24 V DC and a flat-ribbon cable connection technology for streamlined wiring. This compact module is designed for industrial automation, providing secure multi-pin plug connectivity and precise supply voltage diagnostics. Its primary function is to control ohmic, inductive and lamp loads in distributed I/O systems.
Featuring a short-circuit proof max. output current of 0.5 A per channel, the EL2878-0005 ensures robust protection with built-in reverse voltage protection and typical short-circuit current of <2 A. Current consumption on the E-bus is typ. 100 mA, while power contacts draw typ. 20 mA plus load current from the 24 V supply. Switching performance is optimized with a typical TON of 60 µs and TOFF of 300 µs. The module conforms to EMC immunity and emission standards EN 61000-6-2 and EN 61000-6-4, ensuring interference-free operation.
Built for harsh environments, the EL2878-0005 operates from 0 to +55 °C and can be stored between –25 and +85 °C. It withstands vibration and shock per EN 60068-2-6 and EN 60068-2-27, guaranteeing durable performance on the factory floor. With 8-bit output and 1-bit diagnostics integrated into the process image, it enhances fault detection and system efficiency.
