The Beckhoff EL6861 is a serial interface designed to connect BACnet MS/TP devices via an RS485 interface, which ensures high interference immunity with electrically isolated signals. This interface is compatible with equipment such as actuators, variable frequency drives, and various HVAC components. The EL6861 can support up to 32 standard devices and up to 64 when utilizing ultra-low power transceivers. It features three LEDs for network status indication and includes a 9-point D-sub female socket. The interface weighs roughly 70 grams and measures 26mm x 100mm x 52mm (W x H x D), and should be installed on a 35mm mounting rail according to EN60715. Its data transfer rates vary from 9600 (default) up to 115200 baud. Additionally, the EL6861 operates on two layers: the EIA-485 layer for MS/TP networks and a Logic ISO/OSI layer for BACnet devices.
