ES3201
The ES3201 EtherCAT Terminal from Beckhoff, part of the ES EtherCAT Terminals series, provides precise temperature measurement for industrial automation applications. It features a fast conversion time of ~24 ms (default) and an integrated 1 kHz input filter to remove high-frequency noise. Powered via the EtherCAT system’s E-bus, this module supports 2-, 3-, and 4-wire RTD connections, ensuring flexible installation while maintaining accurate data acquisition across diverse sensor types.
In terms of technical specifications, the ES3201 offers a single input channel for resistive temperature detectors (RTDs) with a measurement current of 0.5 mA to minimize sensor self-heating. The device draws approximately 190 mA from the E-bus and includes an integrated digital filter for stable readings. It supports platinum RTD sensors (Pt100, Pt200, Pt500, Pt1000) across a temperature range of -200…+850 °C and nickel RTDs (Ni100, Ni120, Ni1000) from -60…+250 °C. The resistance measurement range spans 10 Ω…¼ kΩ, with resolution of 0.1 °C per digit and configurable conversion times up to 4 500 ms.
Additional features include limit value monitoring, variable connection technology, and support for KTY sensors, allowing use with a wide array of resistive temperature sensors. The module complies with CE, CCC, UL, ATEX, and IECEx standards and operates between -25…+60 °C (storage -40…+85 °C), ensuring durability in harsh environments. By combining high accuracy (deviation <±0.5 °C for Pt sensors) with rapid processing, the ES3201 enhances system efficiency and reliability in demanding industrial applications.
