The Beckhoff IE2401 extension box unit from the IE Extension Box Units series is engineered to expand I/O capabilities in demanding industrial automation environments. Featuring 8 inputs and 8 outputs with robust M8 screw-type connections, it ensures secure, space-efficient wiring. Designed for a 24 V DC power supply, the IE2401 accommodates ohmic, inductive, and lamp loads while the 3 ms input filter guarantees accurate signal detection even in electrically noisy settings. Its primary function is to seamlessly integrate additional digital channels into Beckhoff EtherCAT networks, simplifying system expansion and control.
The IE2401 delivers precise performance through a comprehensive set of technical specifications. Digital inputs adhere to EN 61131-2 Type 2 standards, recognizing logic 0 at –3…+5 V and logic 1 at 11…30 V, 6 mA. Each channel draws 20 mA typ. auxiliary current, and output channels are short-circuit proof with a maximum current of 0.5 A, backed by a typical 1.5 A short-circuit current capacity. Power is fed and distributed via M8 male and female 4-pin a-coded connectors. Rated for 24 V DC (–15%/+20%), it supports up to 0.5 A sensor supply with built-in short-circuit protection.
Built to withstand harsh industrial conditions, the IE2401 features an IP65/66/67 (EN 60529) protection rating with variable installation options, ensuring dust and water resistance. It operates reliably from 0…55 °C and can be stored between –45…+85 °C. The unit’s compact design, low power consumption, and robust construction minimize downtime and maintenance.
