The Beckhoff KL1418 is a high-density module from the KL Analog Input Modules series, designed by Beckhoff for industrial automation applications. This compact 8 mm-wide terminal block features a rated voltage of 800 V and a rated current capacity of 41 A, supporting robust signal processing in control cabinets. Its primary function is to serve as an 8-channel PNP output module, converting field signals into precise process data for PLC systems and enabling reliable monitoring and actuation in machinery control.
Building on its core functionality, the KL1418 provides a 24 V DC rated operating voltage (20.4 V to 28.8 V input range) and delivers 2 A output per channel (total 8 A). Switching performance is optimized with turn-on and turn-off delays ≤1 ms, and it achieves a maximum switching frequency of 100 Hz for resistive loads. Protection is comprehensive, featuring automatic short-circuit recovery, reverse polarity protection on the supply, and an integrated thermal shutdown during overtemperature conditions. Spring-clamp technology secures one-wire terminations for solid, stranded, or ferruled conductors—ranging from 0.08 mm² to 2.5 mm² for solid wires, 0.25 mm² to 2.5 mm² for stranded wires, and 0.14 mm² to 1.5 mm² for ferrules—while drawing only 100 mA from the E-bus.
Durability and integration are further enhanced by its polyamide insulating housing, rated to withstand temperatures from –50 °C to +120 °C, and an IP20 protection class. The module mounts securely on standard DIN rails and offers 500 V isolation between field side and bus system. Diagnostic LEDs per channel provide clear visual feedback—green for active outputs and red for fault conditions such as overloads or short circuits.
