KL2542
The Beckhoff KL2542 module, part of the KL Analog Input Modules series, is manufactured by Beckhoff and features a high-frequency PWM clock frequency of 35 kHz and a max. 12-bit current resolution with max. 16-bit speed resolution. Designed for precise control of inductive DC brush motors, the two output channels support a duty cycle from 0–100% for accurate torque and speed modulation. The primary application of this module is to drive DC brush motors or other inductive loads with smooth, low-noise operation.
In terms of technical specifications, the KL2542 delivers up to 3.5 A output current per channel at a rated load voltage of 8–48 V DC while drawing a typical 100 mA K-bus current and providing a 20 mA sensor supply. The module implements 180° phase-shifted, short-circuit and thermal-overload proof outputs to minimize electromagnetic interference and ensure reliable performance under varying load conditions. It accommodates a total of 48 I/Os and operates within a temperature range of 0–55°C.
Additional features include short-circuit proof and thermal-overload proof protection, a compact design weighing approx. 100 g, and storage capability from –25 to 85°C. These attributes make the KL2542 highly durable and efficient, simplifying integration into space-limited control panels. Certified for industrial automation, it ensures stable pulse generation, reduces signal ripple, and enhances overall system longevity. In industrial applications, the KL2542 delivers reliable, high-precision motor response, improved efficiency, and minimal maintenance requirements.
