KS3458
The Beckhoff KS3458 digital input module, part of the KS Digital Input Modules series by Beckhoff, provides 8 high-precision analog inputs and a 12-bit resolution for industrial automation tasks. Its primary function is to interface process control and energy monitoring sensors with automation systems using a signal current range of 4–20 mA. The module draws its operating power directly via the K-bus (typical consumption of 105 mA), eliminating the need for external power supplies and facilitating seamless integration into Beckhoff backplane architectures.
Featuring an internal resistance of less than 85 Ω, the KS3458 minimizes signal attenuation and preserves measurement integrity. With a conversion time of approximately 4 ms per channel, it supports time-sensitive applications requiring continuous real-time data updates. The typical measurement uncertainty remains under ±0.3% relative to full-scale value, ensuring dependable accuracy even under fluctuating process conditions. Surge voltage resistance up to 30 V DC provides robust protection against transient events in harsh industrial environments.
Engineered for reliability, the KS3458 complies with EMC immunity and emission standards EN 61000-6-2 and EN 61000-6-4, and withstands mechanical stress in line with EN 60068-2-6 (vibration) and EN 60068-2-27 (shock). With an IP20 protection rating, it operates safely in ambient temperatures from 0 to 55 °C and can be stored between –25 and +85 °C. Input data are mapped into its process image as 8 x 16-bit values (with optional 8 x 8-bit control/status data), providing flexible data handling for downstream PLC logic. In industrial applications, the KS3458 ensures precise, reliable signal acquisition, enhancing process control, diagnostics, and overall automation efficiency.
