The Okuma MIP11 D-11 spindle drive unit is the latest addition to the MIV Servo Drives family from Okuma, delivering integrated control for high-precision industrial automation applications. This compact module is built around an Intel Atom Z530 1.6 GHz processor and 512 MB RAM, ensuring robust computational capacity for real-time motor control. It operates over a wide Operating Temperature Range of 0 to +55 °C and is powered by a 24 VDC Power Supply Voltage, making it suitable for diverse factory environments. Storage needs are met via a removable CompactFlash card, while dedicated Real-Time Clock circuitry with a 10-year backup retains critical timing data. Early support for standard industrial interfaces is provided by 1× Ethernet and 1× USB 2.0 ports, enabling straightforward integration with machine controllers and supervisory systems.

The MIP11 D-11 excels in performance through a finely tuned combination of analog and power electronics. Precision signal conditioning is handled by an μPC311 operational amplifier, while an MB3759 motor driver IC delivers efficient current regulation to the motor windings. Voltage stabilization is achieved using high-quality Electrolytic & ceramic capacitors, and resistors & diodes provide circuit protection against transients and overloads. High-power switching is performed by a bank of transistors & MOSFETs, giving the unit the agility needed for rapid spindle acceleration and deceleration. Three-phase AC input power is routed through dedicated UVW motor output terminals, ensuring smooth torque delivery and minimal electrical noise.

Designed for long-term reliability and seamless integration, the drive features a modular PCB architecture that isolates noisy power stages from sensitive control circuits, reducing EMI and improving maintainability. A built-in cooling fan and integrated heatsinks optimize thermal performance, preserving component life under sustained loads. The drive’s compact footprint and standard DB-type connection ports facilitate retrofits and new machine designs alike.
