The SERVOSTAR-640 servo amplifier from Kollmorgen, part of the S600 Servo Drives, is engineered for advanced industrial applications with high-performance motor management and extensive communication capabilities. It supports up to 64 nodes, making it suitable for large network deployments, and offers 24V / 7mA, PLC-compatible, IEC 61131 control inputs. With a fast addressing time (minimum) of 4ms, this amplifier is ideal for efficient bus communication and integrated system control.

The SERVOSTAR-640 is distinguished by its robust technical specifications which include a rectified and smoothed power voltage provided by its DC bus link, ensuring stable operation under various load conditions. The unit incorporates a comprehensive fieldbus interface supporting CANopen, PROFIBUS, SERCOS etc. to enable seamless connectivity with other system components. In addition, it integrates a resolver/digital converter for absolute position determination along with the functionality of internal count pulses (1 pulse = 1/220 turn) via its ROD-interface for incremental position output.

Further enhancing its versatility, the amplifier also features electrically decoupled potential isolation to prevent circuit interference, and an integrated power contactor that provides phase monitoring and overall system protection. The design includes ferrite rings (ring core) for enhanced interference suppression and supports a reversing mode to meet varying operational demands. With compatibility for a Windows based system and support for a graphics adapter (color display), the SERVOSTAR-640 offers a well-rounded solution that optimizes motor control and communication in complex industrial networks, thereby improving operational efficiency and reliability.
