VAC D8-B
The Okuma VAC D8-B spindle drive, part of the VAC Spindle Drives series by Okuma, offers a versatile solution for CNC spindle motor control. Designed for a wide input range of AC170V-AC250V at 50/60Hz, the drive accommodates diverse industrial power environments. It employs six power transistors for efficient switching and power regulation, and features a PT768 main diode module rated at 75A 800V to manage rectification with minimal loss. Complementing this, the drive supports interchangeable transistor modules—EVM31-050A or QM150DX-H—each rated at 150A 600V or 150A 450V for application flexibility. The primary protection is handled via a Base Circuit Fuse Type KM10 1A, supplemented by Warning Fuse Type 1 SMP32 3.2A and Warning Fuse Type 2 MP50 5A to guard against overcurrent events.
Performance and technical integration are streamlined through the onboard VAC-BOARD-II control PCB, which orchestrates drive functions with precision. Control signals are routed through a CN1 (50-pin) connector while motor feedback and power are interfaced via a Commercial MATE-N-LOCK 1-480438-0 (16-pin) motor signal connector. The board architecture integrates a regeneration circuit that captures braking energy, a transformer for localized voltage conversion, and visual diagnostics delivered by LED indicators. Configurable settings are facilitated by DIP switches, allowing field customization of operational parameters, while the drive’s potentiometer adjustments (Speed Meter and Load Meter) give technicians real-time tuning capability. This combination of high-current transistor modules, robust diode rectification, and advanced PCB topology ensures stable and responsive spindle control under dynamic loads.
Reliability is enhanced by carefully selected signal connectors and robust PCB components that meet stringent Industrial Automation standards. The VAC D8-B seamlessly integrates into existing CNC architectures, leveraging standardized Signal connectors and modular drive design to minimize installation complexity. Its resilience under continuous operation is assured by protective fusing and regenerative energy handling, extending component life and reducing maintenance intervals. Tailored for precision machining, the drive excels in demanding applications such as milling, drilling, and turning within high-volume production and Wake industrial environments. By balancing advanced technical features with practical ease of use, the VAC D8-B ensures consistent spindle performance and maximizes equipment uptime.
