The Copley Controls XTL-230-40 is a high-performance digital drive module within the XENUS Digital Loop Modules series, designed to meet demanding industrial automation requirements. Featuring mains voltage of 100–240 V AC ±10%, the drive handles both single-phase and three-phase supplies across a 47–63 Hz frequency range. It delivers a continuous current of 20 A DC (14.1 A rms, sinusoidal) while accommodating peak currents up to 40 A DC (28.3 A rms) for dynamic load conditions. Integrated digital control loops for current, velocity, and position ensure precise motion management. This module supports a robust control power supply of 20–32 V DC, 500 mA max, maintaining essential system uptime under varied power conditions.
Performance is optimized through selectable Sinusoidal FOC or trapezoidal commutation modes, enabling smooth torque generation and reduced motor heating. The drive’s current loop sampling rate of 15 kHz (67 µs) combines with a velocity/position loop rate of 3 kHz (333 µs) to deliver rapid response and high-bandwidth control. A min load inductance of 200 µH (line-line) ensures stable regulation even with low-inductance motor windings. The design features Bus Voltage Compensation to maintain constant bandwidth across the full bus voltage range, eliminating performance drift. Rated for max mains currents of 20 A rms single-phase and 15.4 A rms three-phase, the XTL-230-40 balances power density with thermal resilience.
Reliability and integration are facilitated by 12 customizable digital inputs and 4 programmable digital outputs that simplify I/O mapping in complex installations. A full-duplex RS-232 port operating at 9,600–115,200 baud enables direct parameter tuning and diagnostic data exchange. The module’s compliance with CANopen V2.0b communication standards extends connectivity to modern network architectures.
