The 5440, developed by Pacific Scientific, is a high-efficiency motor drive from the 5000 Series, designed for optimal performance when used with intelligent drivers. It utilizes power mains rated at 120 volts AC and transforms step and directional data into effective motor winding power output of 5 amps per phase on a 65-volt DC bus. These drivers are crafted specifically for Pacific Scientific's Sigmax stepper motors, while also being compatible with other motors of similar specifications. With pulse width modulation, the 5440 driver electronically regulates the motor and eliminates mid-range instabilities that can occur due to the motor's design. The motor is powered by a source ranging from 18 to 75 VDC, providing 7.1 Amps of peak current and a steady power supply of 5 Amps RMS, 65 Volts DC. The 5440 also offers compatibility settings for mnemonic programming language indexer functionality.
