The Pacific Scientific 5000 Series Motor Drives are smart motion system drivers produced for optimal performance and reliability, offering easily accessible software control. These stepper motor drives provide diverse power supply configuration options including a peak 7.1 Amps current, an internal power supply of 65 Volts DC at 5 Amps RMS, and a user-provided power range of 18 to 75 Volts DC. Designed to work with Pacific Scientific's Sigma series of hybrid stepper motors, the 5430 series can transform step and directional inputs into the required motor winding currents, operating at 120 volts AC. Incorporating two main components, the power supply and the driver unit, the 5430 uses pulse width modulation (PWM) for motor control and a bipolar chopper for winding current control. With its advanced design, the system precludes mid-range instability, modifying output behaviour through an electronic switching mechanism based on the characteristics of the incoming pulse train.
