PCX/DSP-400
The PCX/DSP-400 board by Danaher joins the renowned Synqnet Boards series as a high‐performance motion control solution. It is built around an Analog Devices 40 MHz DSP providing real‐time signal processing and deterministic response. Featuring an ISA bus interface, it integrates seamlessly into existing industrial automation systems without requiring extensive redesign. The module controls up to 8 axes of servo or stepper motors with 16‐bit outputs, ensuring high‐resolution motion control. For sensor fusion and feedback, it offers 8 channels, 12‐bit analog inputs and encoder inputs with up to 5 MHz bandwidth. A total of up to 44 user I/O lines supports flexible customization for specialized machine control.
The design emphasizes advanced performance characteristics through an optimized programming environment. Users leverage MEI C function libraries to access over 250 motion control functions covering point‐to‐point, continuous path, and coordinated multi‐axis trajectories. Compiler support for Microsoft, Borland, Watcom, and Symantec toolchains ensures broad development compatibility and rapid code iteration. The DSP architecture combined with a 5 MHz encoder input bandwidth and 16‐bit servo outputs delivers smooth velocity loops and tight position regulation. The board’s deterministic timing and high interrupt responsiveness allow precise synchronization with peripheral devices and external triggers. Extensive diagnostic LED indicators provide real‐time status feedback for bus activity, axis faults, and I/O operations.
Reliability and integration are key strengths of the PCX/DSP-400 platform. It operates on a standard 24 V DC supply and includes a rugged aluminum heatsink for effective thermal management under high‐load conditions. Onboard RS-232 and RS-485 ports support serial communication with higher‐level controllers, HMIs, and ancillary devices. An integrated USB port simplifies firmware updates and system enhancements without disassembling the host chassis. Ideal for industrial automation, laboratory instrumentation, and retrofit applications, this board streamlines motion system deployment while maintaining compatibility with legacy ISA bus architectures.
