The Beckhoff CX8031 is a programmable PROFIBUS DP Slave controller, designed for a variety of applications such as processing PLC programs and functioning as a slave device. This controller includes an automatic baud-rate detection feature and is equipped with a 512 MB MicroSD card. It also boasts an Ethernet Interface, E-bus or K-bus, and an Ethernet connection through which the controller is programmed and configured. Its unique feature includes supporting three virtual slaves but only utilizing a single one. The device comes with two rotary selection switches to configure its PROFIBUS address, and it is capable of auto-detecting the type of I/O system connected at startup. The CX8031 is compatible with Bus Terminals to process and transport signals to superior controllers or actuators. Engineered for IP 20 protection class environments, it offers protection against foreign entities. In gas environments, the controller should be housed in a casing that offers IP 54 protection, as per the 60079-15 specifications. Additionally, for environments with non-conductive and conductive dust, the device necessitates IP 54 and IP 6X protection respectively, according to EN 60070-31 standards.
